Contemporary music needs to play as an important role in the music landscape in Europe as today does the classical music heritage!

Therefore, ECF sets impulses and initiates activities to preserve contemporary music creation in Europe today and tomorrow and acts as a driving motor to increase the awareness for and the reception of contemporary music - in regard for its creators: the living composers in Europe.

I. Lobbying (in alliance with ECSA - European Composer & Songwriter Alliance)
Consolidate and improve the status of composers and increase the awareness of, and the respect for composers and their creations, both in the industries they serve and in society as a whole Outline the importance of contemporay music as an artistic mirror of our time, a key to the identity of today‘s society Protect music as an art form which has economical, intellectual, spiritual and cultural value Protect and develop the rich diversity of our cultures, having in mind the UNESCO declaration on cultural diversity

II. Publicity & Communication

Achieve that contemporary classical music and the living composers in Europe are clearly visible, present and communicating towards public society as well as within the professional music institutions & musicians

ECF is constantly fostering, cherishing and increasing the network activities among European contemporary classical composers

ECF offers the meeting platform and activities turntable for all European contemporary classical composers

ECF connects and cooperates with the important European music networks - on international, national and regional levels

IV.Creative Impulses

ECF initiates and/or curates artistic music projects with a European scope centered around composers aiming to enable the performance and promotion of their works ECF supports external initiatives and projects concerning European composers and contemporary music creation (through partnership engagements)

V. Audience Education & Development

To raise a vital audience potential we need to educate and develop audiences for today & tomorrow ECF needs to collaborate with the main educational networks and institutions for school music, with music universities & conservatories, and with the main political institutions ECF needs to support concepts and develop strategies for audience development that can integrate contemporary music into relevant educational programmes (sustainability).
